About the Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals
The Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals is comprised of six commissioners, and the chairman. Each planning commissioner is appointed by the mayor, with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals reviews petitions for changes to the zoning district map, text amendments to the zoning code, Special Use permits, Special Use permits for Planned Developments, zoning requests for newly annexed property, reviews all plats and plans for subdivisions and reviews and recommends changes to the Comprehensive Land Plan ofthe village. They also conducts public hearings concerning requests for variances to the Zoning Ordinance for property that is not part of a planned development, appeals from any final order, requirements, decision, or determination made by an administrative official charged with the enforcement of the Zoning Code and may be tasked by the Village Board to review other matters. Some meetings are cancelled if there are no petitions ready for consideration or there is no business to discuss. All meetings are open to the public and the public is encouraged to attend.

Jeffery A. Metcalf, Chairman
Jeff Metcalf is a long-time resident of Elburn. He, and his wife, Vicki, along with their boston terrier Shane, recently built their dream house in Blackberry Creek. Jeff served on the Elburn Village Board of Trustees from 1999 to 2007. He also served on the village's Planning Commission and Cable Commission in 1996. Jeff missed being involved in planning and decision-making for the future of Elburn after serving on the Village Board, and graciously accepted the village president's appointment to chairman of the village's Planning Commission. He hopes to continue to make many positive contributions to the Village of Elburn while serving in this capacity. Jeff is the President of Record Information Services, Inc., which is located in Kaneville, and employees over 25 people.

Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson is a life-long resident of Elburn. He, and his wife, Kim along with their two children, Connor and Madison, reside on the northwest side of Elburn. He has been involved with many aspects of Elburn since his childhood, has coached several sports in the Elburn/Kaneland youth programs and also serves on the Kaneland Facilities Planning Committee. He wishes to serve the residents of Elburn by being a voice of the past and a mind for the future.  Ryan has over 19 years of experience in the Maintenance/ Engineering field and is the Director of Facilities Management at the Society of Mt. Carmel in Darien, IL.
